Does Intermittent Pain In Heart Need Immediate Medical Attention?

I have just noticed a pain in the area of my heart only is not constant it comes and goes with anywhere from 20 seconds to 1 minute in between. Sometimes it stops altogether. It is not a stabbing pain just a quick jab. Should I go to a Dr. right away as i have an appointment with my heart Dr. next Tuesday the 17th. Please let me know what you think. larry

cannot say in your particular case.
A new or significant change in the heart is a serious immediate life-threatening condition.
Since these are due to a muscle not getting enough blood if it is heart related, the pain would tend to:
be dull/achy/fatigue-muscle type
come on with exertion and relieved with rest
last minutes
often with shortness of breath, extention in arms/neck, sweats.
But, there is very very wide variability in these symptoms
