Does It Normally Take This Long For An Ear Infection To Go Away?

I had an ear infection that was described as swimmer's ear. I had sharp shooting pain around ear. I took a z pack and used ear drops. The pain went away, but, the ear blockage has not. I have been on a second z pack with no change. I have noticed now my eye on that same side is runny. Can this be related? Does it normally take this long for an ear infection to go away?

Hello

Normally i would not prescribe z pack for a swimmers ear and rather i would give capsule amoxicillin for it , please meet your ent doctor wh will prescribe you the correct antibiotic. normally it takes 5-10 days for the infection to subside.
you may also need some antibiotic and steroid drops , please meet your ent doctor for advice.

Thanks
