While landing from a layup during basketball, my right foot planted awkwardly on the landing, resulting in my right knee buckling (hyper extending?). I didn t hear a pop, but experienced sharp pain in the general knee area. I was able to walk off the court with a limp. It s been 2 weeks since the incident- I m still experiencing pain on the inner-side of the knee (MCL sprain?), and still unable to bend my knee much due to pain. The knee feels like it ll pop when I try to bend my knee to 90 degrees. Other than the inability to bend the knee, and walking with a limp, I don t experience any discomfort or pain while standing or anytime the leg is in straight position. (Minimal swelling, no visible bruising) I ve yet to seek medical help due to financial situation, so any advice would be much appreciated! My main question is: does it sometimes require 3-4 weeks for the injured knee to settle down for me to gain ability to bend knee? Thanks for your time!
