Does Kidney Disease Cause Elevated AST Levels?

I am 175 pounds; 5 8 . aST level is 65; ALT level 28. Test for hepatitis came negative; ultrasound did not show any upnormalities; the doctor wants to proceed with biopsy. I have kidney polysistic des ease. Could the kidney des ease cause the elevated aST levels. Thank you

Yes, polycystic kidneys can indeed cause an elevation in your renal function parameters. I would also recommend a biopsy at this stage and urgent initiation of therapy soon after the results are seen.
