Does Lack Of Balance In Body With Weakness Suggest Neurological Problems?
My name is Mandy Snyder. I am 64 years old. I having falling three to four times a day. When I fall or faint my left side of my body goes very weak. So, Icant get up, I have to lay there til the feeling comes back in my left side. I have absolutely no balance in my body. I this neurological, do you think?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Loss of balance associated with weakness in left part of body is suggestive of neurological problem. Balance is maintained by inner part of ear as well as cerebellum or posterior most part of brain. In case of involvement of inner ear, loss of sensation over left part of body should not occur, however, since there is loss of sensation over left part of body, there is a possibility that nerves from the brain are affected. Thus, you may consult a neurologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
