Does Light Period Mean Pregnancy?

Hello, my name is eryn. I'm 19 years old, 125 pounds and 5'5". I am on a birth control pill, so usually my periods are light and short. My last period only lasted for 1 day and I am supposed to have my period now but I didn't get it. I am bleeding, but its extremely light and not like my normal periods. I have had unprotected sex, so I'm wondering if I should be worried about pregnancy.

Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

The bleeding on birth control pills is known to be light, so do not worry about the same if you have been taking your pills regularly.

Birth control pills are a very effective form of contraception and can avoid pregnancy in 99.8% of women who regularly use them.

Due to the low dose estrogen and progesterone content in them, it is common to have a light period when on them.

So please do not get anxious about the same.

If you do not get any period for 3 months at a stretch then you need to see a gynecologist.

With slight bleeding and regular period on pills you need not worry.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
