Does Living In Elevation Cause Bluish Hands And Feet With Frequent Sweats?

My son is 28 & lives in Colo. at an elevation of 6,700ft. He moved there in April of this year. He said he woke up last Fri. and a couple of days since including today, with bluish hands & feet and a little on ankles. Do you know what could be causing this. He also has dealt with heavy sweating off & on. He does take a b/p med & was born with one kidney.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Bluish hands and feet indicate a vascular disorder.
Vascular disorder refers to disorder pertaining to small blood vessels in hands and feet.
Inflammation of these vessels leads to congestion, of vessels and thus bluish discoloration.
There is condition called chilblains wherein the skin of hands and feet turn blue especially during winters.
Your son could be suffering from chilblains.
Chilblains is a vascular disorder wherein vascular supply to hands and feet is decreased leading to bluish discoloration, pain and itching.
However, a clinical assessment is necessary before a diagnosis can be made and thus treatment planned.
Treatment of this condition is primarily avoiding exposure to cold and keeping extremities warm.

Thanks and take care
