i HAD A COMPLETE THYROIDECTOMY 2 YEARS AGO AND I WAS PUT ON SYNTHROID (0.125). I LOST 15 POUNDS BUT THEN LATER ON MY SECOND BLOOD TEST THEY LOWER MY DOSE TO 0.100 BECAUSE I WAS OVER MEDICATED. LATER ON I WAS PUT ON 0.112. I JUST DID MY LAB TEST AND I M SHOWING LOW TSH, T3 AND T4 ARE NORMAL. MY SKIN, LIPS, CHIN ARE DRY AND i M LOSING HAIR LIKE CRAZY. DO YOU THINK THIS DUE TO HAVE A LOW TSH? I M 58 YEARS OLD.
Hi dear user Dry skin and hair loss are sign of hypothyroidism. This signs can be due to low TSH only if you have a secondary (or tertiary)hypothyroidism. This condition is due to a failure of the pituitary gland to release thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and the result is low thyroid function. Anyway your free thyroid hormons are within the normal range ,this means that the actual dose of Synthroid is OK. Hope i have answered to your question. Wish you good health. Dr Elona
