Does Low WBC Count Cause Bronciolitis In Elderly ?
I am a 63 year old with a history of a low white blood cell count. Had bronciolitis once and was treated with antibiotics for it. The symptoms at that stage were like a whooping cough and lots of difficulty breathing. At the moment I am not having that problem but frightened it might develop
Hello and welcome to HCM, Bronchiolitis is a viral infection common in very young children and elderly. It may be superimposed by bacterial infections otherwise the infection resolves spontaneously. It is characterized by debilitating cough. Low white blood counts especially low neutrophil counts are associated with increased risk of developing bacterial infection. Bronchiolitis is more often associated with low immunity. I would suggest you to consult your primary health provider in case you are facing any difficulty in breathing.
