Does Lower Right Abdominal Pain Cause Appendicitis?

My son is having lower right abdominal pain that started this morning and is increasing but he does not have a fever and his appetite is fine (still hungry). IS there a risk for appendicitis? What would I look for to be a definite symptom that I should take him to a doctor for?

HI,

Thank your for your questions and the concern of your son. This is most likely appendicitis which is common at this age. Check if he has temperature, vomiting, failure to pass stool and other pains in the abdomen. Diagnosis is better made by a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mutuma Geoffrey Zambezi
