Does Lumbar Puncture Causes Numbness In The Feet?

My husband had a lumbar puncture for back and leg pain. Immediately following the procedure he had pain in his right calf, now four days post, he is complaining of extreme pain in his calf and numbness in his foot...is this common or something we should get looked at right away?
