Hi, I have Mirena in for almost two years now. But here lately I stay sick to my stomach when I eat, had weight gain, mood swings and I want to sleep all the time and I can not feel my strings I feel like I am prego. My smell is sensitive and I can swear I am feeling small movements every once in a while. Could this be all in my head.

Hello,

You have Mirena as a CP device since almost two years. Now you are feeling sick, your smell is sensitive, you are having mood swings, you feel lethargic and have gained weigh. You also feel movements once a while in your abdomen. You cannot feel the Mirena strings. Gaining weight after getting an IUD is commonly due to water retention than a gain in body fat. If you can't see or feel the Mirena strings, a full expulsion may have taken place. If the Mirena is no longer in position you can become pregnant. You have not mentioned if you used a backup method of contraception.

If you don't have a backup method of birth control, you are no longer protected against pregnancy. You should have contacted your healthcare provider the minute you couldn't feel the strings. However, you are suggested to take a pregnancy test with the first morning mid stream urine to detect pregnancy. Get clinically examined by an OBGYN, get USG (uterus with fallopian tubes) done, you will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any. Do not do any heavy work avoid anxiety and stress.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
