Does Missing Synthroid Doses Cause Severe Itching On The Body?

Hi I have been taking synthroid for awhile and have not had many side effects. the last few days I had missed some of my doses and I have developed very bad itching. Can this be related to missing some doses? I also have dry skin but this is unbearable

Hello,

The itchiness is very likely due to the dry skin. Low thyroid function may cause the skin to be even more dry, making the itchiness worse. So, not taking Synthroid for a while, may cause your skin to be more dry and itchy.

I would recommend you to restart the treatment with Synthroid and also apply some vaseline, thin layer, 1-2 times a day in the areas that are itchier.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
