Does Narrowing Of The Artery Cause A Buzzing Sound And Jaw Tension?

Hi iam a 50 year old female and I have a buzzing sound in my right ear and pressure it s worse when sitting or lying down and worse when I stand up from a sitting position. I also have trouble with my throat it aches really bad,not sore just aches like I have strained it,and I get a twanging feeling under my jaw on the right hand side like someone flicking a elastic band inside me. The wooshing buzzing sound used to be only for a short time when standing from sitting but now it s nearly all the time. Iam worried it s a narrowing of a artery and that I may have a stroke. GP has referred me to ENT at hospital. Thankyou regards Frances.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query buzzing sound and jaw tension is because of temporomandibular joint dislocation as it is formed when condyle of jaw glides on skull and in between them articular disk act as cushion. But the symptoms can also occur due to ear problem like ear infection , also buzzing or tinnitus can also caused by narrowing of blood vessels. Try to relax jaw and don't chew gum or any other hard foods. Mouth guard is an effective treatment method for this. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation of jaw muscles is an effective physical therapy way. Muscle-relaxing drugs is also effective for tightness of muscles. Consult ENT specialist . Doctor may also refer you to dentist for jaw problem.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
