Does Neosporin Have Any Side Effects On Pubic Skin?

I shaved my pubic area and sometimes I get a few red bumps. I was recommended by a friend to use neosporin on the area right after I shave to prevent this. I know neosporin would also kill good skin bacteria but would it have any other negative side effect when used like this?
