Does Not Taking Mifeprestone Before Cytotec Affect Abortion?

My girlfriend has taken cytotec to abort. 4 pills, two orally and two vaginally. She did not take mifeprestone before the cytotec. Will the result still be the same without taking mifeprestone before??? Also she has really bad cramps now for about 3 hours and no bleeding yet... Is this normal??

Hi,

Yes misoprost(cytotec) in itself is also a very effective abortificient. And also that she has started having cramps already indicates that the abortion process has begun, the bleeding can take upto 24 hours to start, sometimes even longer.
Also, in about 3% of patient there can be excess bleeding which may require hospitalization. But in 97% the process will be complete, though there may be excess blood loss upto 3 weeks in some women.
I would like to know how many weeks pregnant she was and also if she is under care of a qualified gynecologist.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
