There are basically two ways to terminate an early pregnancy. One is a surgical procedure which is similar to a D&C. The other is a medication abortion which requires that you take medications which will cause you to Cramp and Pass the pregnancy much is if you miscarry. The main risk of the medication abortion is that you will have excessive bleeding. Most healthy young women can withstand heavy bleeding and do not need to to go to the clinic or emergency room unless they are bleeding more than one pad/hour for several consecutive hours. The earlier a pregnancy is the more likely it is to Beebes off by medication abortion. You may be too early in your pregnancy for it to show up on the scan. All that would be needed is a repeat pregnancy test in a few weeks after the medication abortion to make sure that you no longer have any pregnancy hormone present. It is also important that your doctor or practitioner know your blood type. if you are one of the 15% of women with RH negative blood you will need an additional shot. There is a very very small risk of infection with medication abortion. If caught early it can't be treated quite easily with oral antibiotics. There is virtually no risk to your future fertility. The risks of a full-term pregnancy or are outweigh the risk of an early abortion.

I know this was a difficult decision. I am sure you made the best decision for yourself and your family at this time. I wish you good luck in the future and having the size family that you feel best. I know that you are frightened but if you follow the doctor's directions you should be just fine.
