Does Osteoarthritis Cause Constant Cold Sweats On The Head, Neck And Upper Chest?

I ve had bone pain and osteoarthritis diagnosed by cervical MRI and on hand films. Also osteoarthritic changes of the spine from moderate scoliosis and pain in the lower rib cage and shoulder, especially on the right side. Every 6 weeks or so I also have bouts of severe diarrhea. Can constant cold sweats of head, neck and upper chest, a new symptom, be from osteoarthritis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you are experiencing is due to osteoarthritis. With regards to bouts of severe diarrhea, there are 2 main explanations:

- recurrent viral gastroenteritis
- possible IBS.

Need to discuss it further with a gastroenterologist. Constant cold sweats of head neck and upper chest are indicating problems with blood electrolytes:

- should keep well hydrated
- take magnesium supplements
- oral rehydration salts and lots of fluids after severe diarrhea should be considered.

First, you need to check blood electrolytes, together with a complete blood count to rule out related disorders.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
