My friend is muslim. She started to wear jilbab or veil. But whenever she s wearing it, she got a headache, migraine, and if it takes too long, she ll throw up. This headache also happens if she s wearing a headband, cap, or eating food contains too much MSGs. What happened here?

Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

Symptoms experienced by your wife might be due to "compression headache "or external compression headaches. Things like headbands, braids, Hats, Goggles and tight-fitting hair do etc can result in this. I advice you to,

- Remove the factors that result in headache.
- take Analgesics like Naproxen /paracetamol & Triptans
- Neck massage, Relaxation & Stretching exercises.
- YOGA
- have Caffeine drinks
- Avoid exposure to light, noise etc

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician
