Does Pancreatic Echotexture Without Ductal Dilatation Or Discrete Focal Lesion Indicate Pancreatitis?
my husband had an abdominal ultrasound that showed a mildly coarsened pancreatic echotexture without ductal dilatation or discrete focal lesion. Differential includes chronic pancreatitis. Fasting GTT was impaired at 7.8. Does that mean he definitely has pancreatitis? thanks
Only mildly coarsened pancreatic echo texture doesn't confirm chronic pancreatitis. Generally chronic pancreatitis is associated with atrophic size, main pancreatic duct dilatation and calcifications. Besides clinical findings this condition need some blood investigations to support diagnosis like serum amylase and lipase. Contrast CT Scan should also be done to confirm it. Hope i have answered your query.
