Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Penicillin Cause Rashes On Buttocks With Bumps On Elbows And Hands?
Grandson had strep throat and was prescribed penicillin. I noticed 3 days later bumps on elbows, spots on inside hands, and a slight rash on his bottom. He is 8 years old. Any ideas? I thought it could be the first signs of chicken pox although he has been vaccinated. He seems to be feeling fine. Eating and drinking. No fever.
Skin allergies are quite common with penicillin drugs. So this is very likely to be the drug. The absence of fever makes chicken pox or viral Illness unlikely. In my opinion, he should urgently stop the drug. It's better to see his doctor confirm it and note in his records. For the time being, he may use some antihistamines like syp Regix.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
