Hi , may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Hi I have recently gotten a rash near my private area and I am positive it is from sexual contact. I read about STD's and I feel like it may be syphilis. I'm not sure what to do or where to get medicine to treat it. I don't even know for sure if it is that exact STD. What should I do?
Hi, Welcome yo HCM. All rashes near genitals are not due to STD or due to Syphilis. There are lot of other non- Venereal conditions can produce rashes over and near genitals due to various dermatological problem like Jock itch, Eczema, Psoriasis, Lichen planus, Intertrigo Etc. Rashes due to Syphilis not confined to genitals alone and these are manifestations only in secondary stage. Primary stage it will manifest as ulcer and not as rash. Blood test and other investigations have to be done to confirm or rule out Syphilis. Consult your Dermato-venereologist and get well soon. Dr S.Murugan
