Does Reduced Lactose In The Food Affect My Menstrual Cycle?

I have missed a period which has never happened before. My period is almost due again. This could be related to stress but I have also recently started having problems with lactose intolerance and have had to completely cut out dairy products. Could the issues with lactose be affecting my menstral cycle?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, usually directly menstruations are not affected but rarely indirectly due to malabsorption syndrome it may occur due to faulty or insufficient hormones synthesis but doesn't seem to be in your case. Minor fluctuations in periods can occur normally.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
