Does Ringing In Ears Resolve By Itself Once The Ear Infection Is Cured?

Recently, I have had this ringing noise in my ears, for about a week and a half as of now. I know this is known as tinnitus. I am not sure what could have caused it, however I am leaning towards the fact that it was caused by am infection in my throat (coughing). Will this noise go after my infection has fully gone? If not when will there be a cure? Its difficult to put up with it.
