Does Sharp Shooting Pain In Legs Suggest Neuropathy?

Hi I hope you can. My husband has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson, and MS but now they say it is not MS doing test to find out what it is. But he does have Parkinson and today he all of a sudden got sharp shooting pain in his left leg. He does also have neuropothy. We are wondering if there is something we need to do or someone we should call? We don t have any way to pay for advice. So I will just call the hospital and ask them. Thank you

Hello,

Your husband has history of Parkinson's disease and MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Now you are experiencing shooting pain in the legs. Common cause of such symptoms are muscle pain / strain or slipped discs, sciatica, etc. but since he has a history of MS, the nerves are already affected. It could be due to PAD, peripheral artery disease, neuropathy, deep vein thrombosis etc.

He is suggested to get clinically examined by a neurologist, get blood workouts, urinalysis, Nerve function velocity tests, nerve biopsy, imaging tests (CT, MRI, EEG, etc.) done to detect the factor causing discomfort so that treatment can be started at the earliest. In the meantime, he should take food rich in vitamin B6, B12, vitamin E or supplements as they are good for the nerves. Help him stay away from addictions if any and stressful lifestyle.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
