Does Skipping Eliquis Dosage Cause Adverse Side Effects?
Am taking Eliquis for A Fib, just called pharmacy (closed til Mon 9am and they forgot to add this to my auto refill, I m out for weekend. Dr said don t skip dosage. Should I contact an urgent care clinic tomorrow am, as I ll be driving a fair distance. Will it be safe to wait until Mon a.m.? Had a nuclear stress test yesterday, heart ex-rate is 73%, normal for my age (73) female is 50%. No blockages anywhere. Dr. pleased! What are the risks of skipping a twice a day dosage until Mon. a.m.?
Eliquis is prescribed to avoid stroke and other blood clots in patient with AF. People with AF has increased risk of stroke .this is about 7 to 10 percent pre year.
So, for a day or two missing the dose may put a patient on risk of having a stroke, so its advisable not to skip the dose. Its better you can get it from urgent care clinic.
However the risk minimum in 1 or 2 days so even missing it for 2 days won't be a great concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
