Does Smoking Marijuana Affect The Thyroid Gland?

Does smoking weed affect your thyroid? I find that after I smoke a good amount of marijuana or I take a big hit, my throat begins to burn and I have to rapidly swallow to help aid in the pain. My throat starts to slightly throb and my mouth becomes very dry. What are the causes for this? Is there anyway I can prevent it? I use marijuana to self medicate and it really helps, so I m looking for a solution where I don t have to give it up. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think the symptoms you are having may be related to the thyroid gland. It looks more like an allergic reaction of your throat to weed that you are smoking. The best solution is to stop smoking and help yourself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
