Does Smoking Marijuana During Pregnancy Affect The Fetus?
My daughter just found out she is pregnant. She is about 6 weeks or 7 weeks. The month before she smoked crack cocaine 3 times in one month. She enhaled twice only each time. She use to smoke it a lot but quit 2 years ago. She is scared beyond belief that her baby inside is all ready affected from last months use. If she never does it again will that one month be enough to affect her baby?
As per your query, my answer is definitely yes. As smoking marijuana during pregnancy affect the fetus in many ways and it could affect since the first trimester till last trimester.
I would suggest you stop it immediately as it can result in low birth weight babies, miscarriage, abortion. It can cause a growth problem in the fetus as well. I would suggest you taper the dose and eventually stop if it is addicting. If after baby birth you will start having it again it will reach by milk and will stay in the baby system and will start giving adverse effects. It will lower down immunity of your body as well as that of the incoming fetus.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
