Does Smoking Affect Healing Process?

Hi
Does smoking affect bone healing for any person. I had a road traffic accident and had a fracture on the zygoma which was reduced using a plate and 4 screws exactly 8 weeks ago from today, The doctor made an incision inside my mouth just above the upper left gums. I did not smoke for two weeks after the surgery but am smoking since then and was wondering if that would affect the healing process. I smoke around 7 - 8 cigarettes in a day. I had an X ray done after 5 weeks and the doctor said that the fracture line is still visible and was advised for another X ray at 10 weeks.

HI
I really appreciate your concern, smoking is not good for health so this may be affecting the healing process so if this is some kind of injury and on healing phase so better to stop smoking till then, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
