hello, i had to have a medical for new job and had some tests done, one was a chest xray, have been notified of a 1.5cm rounded opacity within the rite upper zone in lung, i have had ct scan and find out tomorrow the results, could it be lung cancer as i have been a heavy smoker since i was 16, i am female and 40,
There are many conditions to be ruled out for the kind of description you have give (round opacity right upper zone -lung ) It can range from a consolidation to a active tuberculosis lesion or a old healed granuloma . I suggest you better wait for the CT report and get a opinion from the radiologist and then from a pulmonologist regarding the lesion and if any further investigations are required.
Please do quit smoking , after 35 the risk of developing lung cancer is high in a active smoker.
Thank You
