Does Spinal Cord Impingement Cause Pain In Center Of Back?

I m scheduled for three-level cervical fusion (5,6, 7) in one week. Although I ve had 5 years of experience with neck-related pain (numbness, tingling, pins and needles in hand, index finger) I developed a simultaneous onset of mid back pain when my cervical issues hit an acute phase two months ago. I m told I have spinal cord impingement. Can this be a cause of this mid back pain? It just seems strange that I would have developed back pain independent of this cervical issue? What do you think, doc?I forgot to ask my surgeon this question today as we talked about the surgery itself.

Hello,

Cervical vertebra level cord impingement can very well produce pain in the middle of the back. I think you should get help from physiotherapy, If it doesn't work, then you can go for surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
