Does Stopping Of Medicines For Back Pain Cause Headache?

Hi My husband had a ruptured vertabrae last October and has been in immense pain. he was given a cocktail of drugs to cope with pain, including dicloflex and co-codamol. His back has recovered and he stopped taking all of the drugs about 2 months ago. However, he is now getting headaches. His doctor has prescribed him propranolol, however, could the headaches be because of his stopping all of the other drugs abruptly?
