Psychiatrist 's  Response
Dear service user,Thanks for writing to healthcaremagic.
I appreciate your honest and frank attitude.
I got your question and have understood your concern about insufficient erections of your partner.
Let me know whether he can achieve and maintain a good quality of erection in sleep, in the early morning, during masturbation but not at the time of coitus? If he is able to achieve and maintain erection in any one of the above mentioned situations than, the problem is more likely psychological rather than physical (medical illness).
There are several causes of insufficient erections. The common reasons are
1. Diabetes (nerve damage and vessels narrowing)
2. Some medicines like anti depressants and anti psychotics
3. Performance anxiety (the most common reason)
4. Alcohol use( nerve damage and testicular injury)
5. Smoking (vessels narrowing)
6. after some surgical procedures (nerve damage)
I advise you to consult a psychiatrist, who will definitely assist you after getting your history and examination to find out the cause of erectile dysfunction in his case.
There are effective medicines like Sildenafil or Tadalafil which significantly improves erectile dysfunction but, they should be taken only under medical supervision.
The bottom line is SEX IS LARGELY WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN TWO EARS AND LITTLE WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN TWO LEGS. If one has relationship issues and stress, it definitely interferes the erectile function.
I hope i addressed your concerns correctly.
Please feel free to ask if you have any doubts or follow up questions.
Wish you good sex life ahead.

Psychiatrist Dr. Chintan Raval's  Response
Dear service user,
Thank you for writing to healthcaremagic.
I understand your concern about partner's inability to erect.
The commonest cause of lack of erection or loosing already established erection is performance anxiety. This is the likely situation what happened with you.
For constant erection, continuous exciting/romantic/erotic feelings should be there in your boyfriend's mind. If his mind is diverted to concern about erection rather than enjoying kindling with you, he will lose erection.
What he should do is to simply enjoy, enjoy and enjoy touch and being touched by you without focusing on his own 'performance' or quality of erection during sexual intercourse.
This thing must me practiced during every sexual encounter.
Stress is also significant factor for ED. If both of you have relationship issues or interpersonal conflicts, it will affect sexual function too.
Hope this will help you.
Wish you good health.
