Does Suspicious Lung Opacity In The Left Lobe Indicate A Contagious Lung Disease?
Greetings. I had chest x-ray a few days ago as a requirement for a sanitary permit of our new workplace. The initial result is suspicious lung opacity in the left upper lobe and apico-lordotic view recommended whose result I will only get tomorrow. I have no fever nor cough nor any difficulty in breathing, Does that necessarily mean that I have a contagious lung disease and a sanitary permit will not be granted as a result?
Hi, Thanks for your question. Please rate my answer if you are satisfied. Lung opacity in the apical region could definitely be contagious as this the most favorite place for Tuberculosis. But on the other hand it is not necessary that you have it. Tuberculosis is a chronic disease and it is usually not an occasional diagnosis on a random chest X-ray. If you had TB you must have had multiple health problems like a chronic cough with sputum, lethargy, night sweats, low grade fever, and weight loss, which you say you don't have. But not having these symptoms doesn't simply rule out TB altogether. As you see its kinda complicated, the only way is to find out via lab tests. And believe me your own life and health is much more valuable than any permits. If you have a disease get tested and treated in time. :)
