Does Taking Buspar And Trazadone Together Cause Depression?

I take both buspar and trazadone and within the last several months my moods had changed dramatically. I have explosive outbursts, crying and emotional sessions, and my temper seems to be shorter. I am beginning to think it is do to a long usage of these meds and interaction. Is this possible? Thank you Cindy

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is not safe to take these medications together.

Taking Buspar together with Trazodone can increase the risk of a serious condition called the serotonin syndrome which is characterized by confusion, hallucination, increased blood pressure & heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering, muscle stiffness, and tremors.

You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications or your doctor would prescribe alternate effective medications to treat your problems.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
