Does Taking Hyospasmol Cause Constipation In Babies?

Dear Doctor. My baby is 6 weeks old and is suffering from stumich cramps. The peadiatrician prescribed Hyospasmol. I started giving it two days back, and now my baby didnt have a number 2 since two days back. Before she was having number 2 s regularly. I am breastfeeding. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your baby had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, yes antispasmodic can cause slowness of gastric emptying as well as peristaltic movements and thus lead to constipation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
