Does Taking I Pill Have An Effect On Normal Menstrual Cycle?
I had sex less than 48 hours ago where my husband isn t sure if he ejaculated in my or not. Since I don t want to take any risks I m planning to have an ipill today, can you tell me when will I start bleeding and will this effect my regular period cycle?
Hello dear Understand your concern Yes better to take I pill as early as possible with in 72 hour after unprotected sexual intercourse. It contain high dose of levonogestrol /progesterone hormone. It prevent the ovulation and inhibit the implantation/fertilization. As it contain high dose of progesterone, it affect the normal menstrual cycle. If you had take 1. Before Ovulation: high dose of progesterone induce the withdrawal bleeding. In 50 percent women bleeding will occur in 5-7 days after using pill.
2. After ovulation: if prolong the leutal phase of cycle and lead to delayed period by 4-6 days.
So by I pill cause temporary disruption of menstrual cycle. Other side effects are: nausea, breast tenderness, dizziness, headche, abdominal pain and tiredness. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
