Does Taking Lantus 20 Units Per Day Affect The Kidneys?
sir my mom is 66years old, diabetic,HT,post cabg,urea 60,creatinine 2,uncontrolled diabetics taking 30 units human mixtard 50 -50.,diamicron bd, galvus 50 mg.she has 300 fasting sugar level with these medicines.she is now recommended human mixtard and lantus 20 units in morning. will it affect her kidneys?

Lantus contains analogue insulin called glargine, which is given to control fasting blood glucose.
Secondly it can be given to renal impaired patients but needs frequent monitoring of creatinine levels.
It might cause low blood sugar levels causing hypoglycemia, so it needs dose reduction.
Frequent monitoring of blood glucose is the key
