Does Taking Levothyroxine Along With Metformin And Lisinopril Cause Insomnia?

yes. I currently take 2000mg Metformin, 20mg Lisinopril, 75mcg Levothyroxin and recently increased my dosage of Lovastatin from 20mg per day to 40mg. Then I had major trouble sleeping at night so I started drinking Sleepytime tea with Valerian at night. Now I feel weird during the day. Could there be an interaction or is it from the added dosage or the tea?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Levothyroxine can be the cause of insomnia.
Try taking your thyroid medication right before going to sleep at night, rather than taking it first thing in the morning. This can help with insomnia.
If the symptoms continue see your doctor for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
