Does Taking Progesteron Cause Heavy Bleeding?

hello i have been taking the progestogen only pill for the past 2 weeks and 4 days, yesterday i had came across with some bleeding, i had checked in the leaflet that came with the pilss to see if it was normal, and it said that it was common and i should carry on taking the pill, but today, it has slightly started to get heavier, and i am worried if this is normal for this to happen? or should i just keep taking it for a few more days and see if it stops it? i really don't know what to do.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) POP or Mini pill has various side effects among First-time users until body get adjusted with extra hormone. It is normal phenomena.

2) Side effects include irregular menstrual cycles, Spotting or bleeding between menstrual periods, Sore breasts, Headache, Nausea, Dizziness, Bloating or weight gain, No menstrual periods etc.

3) You should CONTINUE rest of the pills as before on proper time. In addition, Tranexamic acid tab can be taken for 3-5 days to arrest this type of bleeding (if occurs heavily).

4) Be stress free and maintain genital hygiene properly.
