Does Taking Trinessa Contraceptive Pill Safe To Treat Ovarian Cyst?

Hello. I have had my period since Dec. 3, 2015 and it has not come to a stop. Today I had a pelvic exam ultrasound and they found a lesion on my right ovary and suspect it to be a corpus luteal cyst. My doctor then prescribes me the TriNessa Birth control. Looking this medication up, I m a little skeptical to actually take this medication. Any other suggestion?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Oral contraceptive pills can decrease the intensity of the periods and in some cases may also help with cysts.

Like all medications there are potential side effects but side effects occur in the minority, not in the majority of persons.

You would need to weigh the risks and benefits for you to see if it is a good option

I hope this helps
