Does Taking Flu Shots Twice A Month Cause Any Complications?
I saw my pulmonologist in May of this year and as we were finishing up she asked if I wanted my flu shot. So I got it. Then this past week I saw my primary care provider, an Internal medicine Doctor, and her nurse asked if I had had my flu shot yet. I d forgotten about taking the shot in May and said no and received a second flu shot. Since then I ve been dealing with severe body aches, fatigue, headache, a low grade fever (100.8F), and decreased appetite. I called my internal medicine doctor to ask about my symtoms and was told to take up to 500 mg Tylenol every 6 hours. That works; but will having had two flu shots within a five month period cause problems?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per my clinical experience, the 2 flu shots at the period of 5 months apart do not pose any major health concern. The current symptoms are transient immune mediated response, which clears within 48 hours or so.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
