Does The X Ray Result Suggest That The Person Is Having Tuberculosis?
My aunt is 76 years old and the results of her x-ray just this week had suspicious infiltrates on both upper lobes and theoracic aorta is atheromatous. Does this mean that she has tuberculosis? Thanks. By the way, she's coughing every now and then.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Causes for upper lobe infiltrate are: 1.Infection like tuberculosis 2.Scar 3.Malignant condition.
You need to further evaluated for cause. Tuberculosis is most common cause for this. can be confirmed by smear study of sputum for acid fast cells. treatment for minimum 6 weeks necessary. depending on response to treatment. Which is completely treatable. Not to worry.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
