Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started Prempro about 1.5 months ago. I am 51 and am having periods again. Will this go away with time or is the Prempro causing me to have periods again? Also, I am not feeling well like I do not have any energy. This is not me at all. I am overweight but eat very well. Just wondering if I am going to stop having periods and especially start feeling better?
You started Prempro 1.5 months ago, presently you are having vaginal bleeding. You have not mentioned if you have stopped taking Prempro or are continuing to take it. Breakthrough bleeding is common. However, since you are having vaginal bleeding and you have been on Prempro, you should report it to your treating Gynae who prescribed you with Prempro as it can be indicative of life threatening ailment developing.
Get clinically examined, get all required tests, investigations and imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly. Medical conditions that may cause vaginal bleeding are polyp, fibroid or endometriosis. Get treated at the earliest. Stay away from addictions, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
