Does Thyroid Removal Lead To Fatty Liver?

I have just been diagnosed with a fatty liver which is grade 3...I had my thyroid taken out around 10 years ago and I am told this could have started it? Is this true?I now know why I have steadily been gaining weight..? Can this be sorted out satisfactorily? I am starting a 21 day Ayurveda treatment course today and also thinking about taken milk thistle? Any suggestions I am pretty concerned?
