Does Tingling/numbness In Hands/arms/shoulder Indicate Nerve Damage?

I've been having a lot of pain, tingling & numbness in both of my hands, arms & shoulders (I use my hands a lot). I tried using splints at the beginning it was working at first but the pain kept getting worse.Last year I went to see my Doctor about she said it was probably just nerve damage.
