Does Tingly, Purple Tongue Post Intake Of Honey Suggest Allergy?
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I had a bit of honey, and now the sides of my tongue are tingly and a little purple. I've had this brand of honey many times before, and I've been eating from this bottle for the past two weeks with no reaction. But tonight, my tongue started having prickly feelings maybe two minutes after I ate the honey. Its been about an hour and a half, and I've had no other symptoms. I tried googling it and now I'm freaked out by what I read (toxic poisoning, etc) :(
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the most probable cause of the symptoms that you are experiencing seems to be due to allergic reaction only and in case if it is not due to honey it can be delayed allergic reaction to anything else that you took earlier..
Due to allergic reaction there is inflammation over the tongue leading to Glossitis and it is causing tingling sensation of tongue along with bruising..
As of now you can take anti-allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine.. Gargle with warm saline solution.. You can also gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl.. Suck ice lollies and avoid spicy food..
In case if there is recurring episodes of similar symptoms consult an Allergist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
