Does Troponin T Test Positive Suggest Immediate Surgery?

hello. my brother suffered a mild form of heart attack according to his cardiologist, his Troponin T test is positive. what are the pssoble medical interventions to be done? does he need surgery immediately? because his cardiologist told us about angiogram and possible angioplasty in the coming future. thanks!

Hi,

Elevated tropinin levels can be seen in two conditions: heart attack and unstable ungina. It depends on troponin levels.
In case of heart attack there is a 100% blockage of artery, it needs immediate angiogram and angioplasty.
In case of unstable angina, there is near 100% blockage. It also needs angiography, but not immediate, usually during 48-72 hours.
