Does Typhoid Fever Cause Neurological Damage?

I have a friend who developed typhoid fever from a swimmimg pool in india when he was a child. He was quite weak for some years following. He is now suffering from a series of mental disorders. could the side of having typhoid fever cause neurological damage such as narcissism or paranoia/schizophrenia?
