Does Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Cytotec Indicate Abortion Is Complete?
I took cytotec 10 hours ago(9pm) and started to bleed lightly at around 11pm. When I went to the bathroom at 1230 I saw blood clots come out. This continued every time I went to use the bathroom(5am). And now I think the bleeding is heavy but not quite as heavy at around 4am. Did the abortion work?
The amount of bleeding you are having does indicate that the abortion process has started; however, continuation of heavy bleeding even after 6 hours of bleeding with clots indicates that the abortion is not complete. Within 24 hours after the bleeding has started if the bleeding does not get controlled, there is a possibility that you have aborted incompletely.
Did you note any white tissue amongst the blood clots? They indicate expulsion of the products of conception.
Please submit yourself for ultrasonography. If products are seen in the uterine cavity, it is incomplete abortion and you will need to undergo surgical evacuation of the uterine cavity. If the cavity is empty, you need not worry, the bleeding will be controlled subsequently.
Please report to your Gynaecologist for follow up under any circumstances.
Hope you get the message.
